Burgess Owens

The Thirteenth Season

Burgess Owens is a former University of Miami and NFL superstar who hasn’t forgotten his roots. He has since worked as an area manager for the WordPerfect Corporation, senior VP for Summit Financial Resources, Inc., CEO for Beyond Media.com and is currently the owner of his own e-business company, Pure & Simple Systems. Burgess has a passion for inspiring young people and adults alike to achieve their highest ability.

Burgess’ Presentations Include:

• "The 13th Season" — A recount of a childhood growing up in a thriving segregated black community and twelve years of struggle as an athlete, culminating in a Super Bowl victory and an All-Pro season. This is an inspirational talk highlighting life lessons learned on the way to becoming a Champion.
• "Do it Anyway" — An insightful talk on the freedom and opportunity gleaned by all Americans, and in particular Black Americans, due to a system called Free Enterprise….
• "Windshield or Rearview Mirror?" — A frank and passionate talk discussing the need to once again develop men of character, loyalty, courage and vision within the Black community.
• "Strength Through Struggle" — A talk discussing the experiences and lessons learned while attempting to understand and apply the 10 eternal Laws of Success. Like the law of gravity, the benefits of these Laws apply to all equally… regardless of color, creed, culture or background.
• "Good Folks" — A talk on the historical character of a diverse American people that has created the freest, most prosperous land of opportunity in the history of mankind.
• "America: God’s Vision?" — A talk that highlights some of the miraculous events experienced by men and women throughout America’s history who felt inspired to search for, to build and to fight for a land of freedom… Is it possible that the American experience is not due to a series of lucky events.
• "We The People" — A talk discussing the principles of Freedom, Faith and Family that makes the American system unique, precious and vulnerable….
